When you're feeling overwhelmed, have a lot of homework, or are a little scared before bed, let's turn our hearts back to "The Embrace of the Psalms." This "Children and Youth Friendly" worship compilation starts with "The Little Shepherd and Me" (Psalm 23), singing about the security of green pastures, brooks, and staffs in our daily lives; in "You Know Me Completely" (Psalm 139), we learn to be seen and accepted; "Look Up at the Mountains" (Psalm 121) reminds us that help comes from You; "The Light Ahead" (Psalm 27) makes us unafraid to go on stage; and "Under Your Wings" (Psalm 91) lets us entrust the fear of a stormy night to You. Each song retains a child-friendly tone, with clear and easy-to-learn melodies and rhythms (for clapping and shouting responses), allowing families, Sunday school, small groups, or bedtime to easily sing together and pray: "With You here, I will not get lost."

1. The Little Shepherd and Me

Today was a bit busy, and I felt a little anxious.
But as long as I hold your hand, our steps will be the same.
It might be very dark ahead, and the messages are all over the place;
As long as you are by my side, I will not retreat.
One step, two steps, I follow in your footsteps;
The staff and pole remind me: move forward, never look back.
I asked: Who will lead the way? — You will lead the way!
I asked: "Won't get lost?" — "No, I won't get lost!"
Green grass and flowing streams become the rhythm of my heart;
You are my Good Shepherd, and I will bravely move forward.
Even at the mouth of a valley, with You by my side, I have nothing to fear.
My schedule is packed, and I get nervous before exams.
You let peace in, like a song in your heart.
The table is laden with grace, and the glasses are overflowing.
I said thank you for the arrangement, and that I would bring the blessing back to the class.
Teach me to be as gentle as You, to act when I see a need;
Let me pass on kindness and bring ease to others.
I asked: Who will lead the way? — You will lead the way!
I asked: "Won't get lost?" — "No, I won't get lost!"
With Your presence, even in the darkness there is a light.
You are my Good Shepherd; when I lift up my head, hope is in my heart.

2. You know me perfectly.

You understood my thoughts and smiles even before I spoke;
You understand the little worries hidden in my schoolbag better than I do.
I'm not afraid to go far, and I'm not afraid of dark and winding roads;
Your vision is like a lighthouse, so I dare to speak my true feelings.
I asked, "Is this okay?"
You replied, "My child, that's very good."
You know me perfectly well—and still love me;
Even if I'm a little slow or a little disorganized, you still hold my hand tightly.
You know me perfectly—there's no need to hide anymore;
In the palm of your hand, I learned to be myself and not be afraid of making mistakes.
I was in a bad mood today and had a minor disagreement with a friend.
I wanted to hide, but You brought me peace.
You light my way in the darkness, reminding me to learn gentleness;
Saying sorry and hugging each other mends the relationship.
You knew me in the beginning, and you also saw me in the future;
Count my steps and put my fears at ease.
With You here, I become brave.
You know me perfectly well—and still love me;
Let me live each day as a hymn of praise, being my true self.
You know me perfectly—and I must know you even better:
See me through Your eyes, and appreciate my value without discount.

3. Looking up at the mountains

The inspiration for "Looking Up at the Mountains" comes from Psalm 121: "I lift up my eyes to the mountains; my help comes from the Lord."
This song, sung in the voice of children and teenagers, expresses the faith that "in times of difficulty and confusion, look up and see that help comes from You." With its simple, hopeful melody, it's suitable for singing together in Sunday school, family worship, and youth fellowship meetings.

I looked up at the mountain and wondered where help was.
The answer is with You, like the first light of dawn.
Take one step, two steps forward, without slipping.
With you holding my little hand, I am not afraid.
You neither doze nor sleep, but watch over me at all times.
When I'm tired, I can lean on you, and my breath becomes gentle.
The sun won't hurt me during the day; you are my shelter.
The moon will not harm me at night; you keep me at rest.
When my heart is in turmoil, racing like the wind, may you slow it down.
Give your worries to You, and the path will become clear.
No mountain can stop us from climbing higher.
Help comes from You, and my heart does not tremble.
You protect me in and out, today and forevermore.
Regardless of distance or height, they are all in the palm of Your hand.
I looked up again, and there was light waiting behind the clouds.
With You leading the way, I will move forward bravely.

4. The Light Is in Front

Inspired by Psalm 27: "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?"
When it's time to go on stage, face new classmates, or tackle challenging tasks, we don't need to back down. Because there is light ahead, and You are there waiting for me. The melody is gentle yet progressive, accompanying children and teenagers as they steadily move forward amidst tension.

When I felt a little scared
I saw a light waiting for me ahead.
You told me to be brave and take another step.
I put my worries down at my feet.
Jehovah is my light and salvation
Darkness cannot sway the rhythm of my heart.
With you I will never back down.
No matter how strong the wind is, it cannot extinguish the fire of hope.
Some say I can't do it, but I look up to you.
Your eyes shine brighter than a thousand lamps.
I whisper my prayer to You.
You returned my embrace with peace.
I believe that Your grace will be seen in the land of the living.
Waiting for Your strength and courage, I will learn to be patient and calm.
Even if the road is winding, I won't get lost.
Because Your words are like a street lamp ahead.
When I took that step
I hear a song playing in my heart.
You are my strength and my reliance.
With You leading the way, I am not afraid.

5. Say thank you quietly.

Inspired by the words, "Bless the Lord, my soul; forget not all his goodness," this song uses a child's perspective to express gratitude, from the aroma of breakfast and the embrace of family to moments of forgiveness. The melody is gentle yet uplifting, making it suitable for Sunday school, family worship, and youth groups.

As the morning light shines in, I say good morning to You.
The warmth on the dining table is the peace You give me.
I'll express my small gratitude again, keeping it in my heart.
Thank you for allowing today to begin anew.
You gently mended the places where I made mistakes.
Like slowly untangling a knotted heart
I learned to say sorry and I also learned to be hugged.
The joy of being forgiven by You shines in my heart.
You heal my weakness and my fear.
Replace gloomy thoughts with a clear sky.
You crowned me with love and mercy.
Teach me to share kindness with those around me
I count the quiet blessings of this day.
A smile, a gentle breeze, the lessons learned
I whispered "thank you," but actually said it very loudly.
Because you can hear me and keep me in your heart.

6. The Fearless Secret Fortress

Psalm 46 (God is our refuge and strength; rest and know that I am God).

When the world is noisy and our hearts are in turmoil, we first retreat to Your fortress. The wind may be strong, the rain may be heavy, the earth may shake, and the mountains may tremble, but You will not waver. This song, sung in a childlike voice, brings "rest, surrender, and being protected" into our daily lives: in every moment of prayer at our desks, in the hallways, and by our bedsides, we can find that unyielding fortress.

The wind is so strong outside, my heart is pounding too.
I ran into Your arms like I was entering a city wall.
You are my refuge, and I put down my fear.
In Your name, silence is like closing a door.
The earth trembled and the mountains shook.
Even when the river churns and waves surge, it doesn't swallow me up.
Because you are my strength here.
The song in my heart is more certain than the wind.
There is a river in the city that makes me happy.
Like Your peace slowly flowing in.
I learned to take deep breaths and wipe away my tears.
Find courage beneath your wings
You said to rest, but you know I am God.
I put my hand down and heard my heart respond.
You reign on high and are also by my side.
Accompany me through the darkness until dawn.
When I looked up again, there was light behind the clouds.
I stand in Your fortress and look forward.
No matter how far the road is, take me with you.
With You in me, I am no longer afraid.

7. Tears are also collected.

Psalm 56:8 (You have put my tears in a wineskin and in your book.)

Sometimes we want to hide away, but You don't mind. You even collect my tears, and You know my sighs. This song, sung in the voice of children and teenagers, turns "being seen and accepted" into a prayer song that we can sing together: After crying, our hearts are calmer and braver.

I'm feeling a little down today and don't really want to talk.
My eyes felt hot, like clouds before a rainstorm.
I'll put my worries in my pocket and walk slower.
But you came to my side even faster than I did.
You know the sentences I didn't say.
I also saw the tear that didn't fall.
You said, "Child, don't be afraid, I'm here."
Give me your tears, I will cherish them.
You collected my tears drop by drop.
Like counting the stars and writing them into Your book.
When I feel I'm not brave enough
You hold my hand and let me breathe peace again.
If the night is long, let me lean on your shoulder.
Give me new hope when dawn breaks.
I will say thank you slowly.
Because you held me, I no longer felt lost.
You remember that every step I took was not in vain.
Replace fear with gentleness, turn worry into song
I looked up and saw the light in your eyes.
It turns out that you have always kept me in your heart.

8. Under Your Wings

Psalm 91 (Abiding in the secret place of the Most High, protected under your wings).

When the typhoon rages outside and my heart is filled with turmoil, You give me a place to hide—like the shadow of wings, soft yet powerful. This song, sung in the voice of children and teenagers, makes "taking refuge, trusting, and finding rest" simple and easy to remember: I am not afraid of terror at night, nor of gossip during the day, for I am under Your wings.

It's very windy and rainy outside, my heart is beating fast.
I ran into Your embrace as if entering an umbrella.
You have covered me with your wings, soft yet strong.
I found peace under your wings.
Even arrows flying in broad daylight cannot harm me.
The sounds of the night don't frighten me.
You are the shield of truth before me.
With Your protection, I will no longer tremble.
I said You are my refuge, my God.
I entrust my faith to You and ask You to guide me.
Even with lots of news and chaotic road conditions
Your word "peace" can calm the heart.
You send your messenger to watch over you on the way.
You caught me when I fell.
I looked up and saw light peeking through the clouds.
I know that You are with me until dawn.
When I think again of your love for me
I surrendered my fear and received hope in return.
I rest peacefully under your wings
I'll hold your hand and walk forward again tomorrow.

"I Sing, I Laugh"

Psalm 100 (Serve him with gladness, enter his courts with shouts of joy, because of his unfailing love forever).

This song sings "Joyful Worship" in a simple and quiet way: with smiles and gratitude, we bring our hearts to You. Children and teenagers can sing and clap together—it's not about being loud to worship, but about truly believing in your heart that "You are God, You created us; we are the sheep of Your pasture."

The morning breeze blows through the window as I say good morning to you.
I'll present the first smile to you.
I know that you are God, and that you created me.
I am a lamb on Your pasture
I entered Your door with gratitude.
I entered Your court with praise.
I sing and I laugh because of Your goodness.
Your love lasts forever
When I think of you being with me today...
My steps became light, like dancing on the ground in song.
I entrust my troubles to You in exchange for peace.
Let joy flow like a spring.
The world is sometimes noisy, but I follow your rhythm.
There's no need to compete to see who's loudest, just genuine worship.
I hold each word of gratitude in my palm.
I'll hand it to you gently, and you'll understand everything.
Your faithfulness will not change for all generations.
Your mercy illuminates me like the sun.
Today I will also be a joyful worshipper.
Sing Your beauty and goodness to those around you.

10. <The Desire of the Morning>

The first thing I look for when I open my eyes in the morning is you.
Like parched land longing for rain.
Your love is better than life.
Therefore my lips will praise You.
I will praise You in this way throughout my life.
I raise my hands and call your name.
I am content when I think of You.
Like a soul smiling quietly after a full meal.
At night I remember you are not alone.
In the early morning I seek You and find peace.
You are my helper, my heart is in You.
I am at peace in the shadow of Your wings.
My heart follows You.
Your right hand supports and never leaves.
Even if the road is very long and far
With You in my presence is the sweetest desire.
